Candy Rankings

In 2008, around Halloween time, my team at work decided to come up with our own set of Candy Rankings.  To do so we each submitted our top 25 favorite candies.  First place votes received 25 points, second place 24 points, and so on.  Ten people participated (though one only filled out 12 candies).  Below are the results...

The results are in. Let us reveal the Top 10:

10. Rolos (98) – considered somewhat of a Cinderella story, Rolos hung in there tough against some of the big boys, beating out the likes of Gummi Bears, Sour Patch Kids, and 3 Musketeers.

9. Almond Joy (111) – while its sister candy didn’t even make the first cut, Almond Joy made up for it with a top 10 finish. It’s clear that this time, our voters felt like a nut.

8. Butterfinger (125) – Bart Simpson would be proud. The second of the ‘bar’ family to reach the top 10.

7. M&M’s (129) – a team favorite, expected to reach the top 10 and did not disappoint. Surely helped by the multitude of flavors offered by this candy giant.

6. Caramello (130) – possibly the biggest surprise on the list, Caramello beat out M&M’s by 1 point to capture 6th. Certainly voters were swayed by the brilliant commercial jingle from the 80’s.

5. Snickers (145) – a candy staple and annual powerhouse introduces the top 5.

4. Milky Way (145) – long believed to just be “Snickers without peanuts”, Milky Way shows it’s on even footing with its rival. It takes the tiebreak due to more top 5 votes.

3. Reese’s Pieces (149) – demonstrating the monster power of a chocolate/peanut butter combination, Reese’s Pieces surges late to capture our number 3 spot.

2. Twix (175) – given early competition by Snickers, Twix ends up running away with second place. Truly a candy unlike any other, it is the only one with the cookie crunch.

1. Reese’s Cups (204) – and our candy champion is none other than Reese’s Cups. Going into this competition as the favorite, Reese’s Cups shows why it has no counterpart, simply dominating the other candies. Congrats to our winner.
